A Chiropractic Health Care Team Needs You

You like helping people. You're looking for variety in your work. Join us in a satisfying career that helps people achieve better health.

Learn how to become a key staff member from the leader in chiropractic. Considered the gold standard in staff training, Palmer College began the Associate of Science in Chiropractic Technology (A.S.C.T.) degree in 1966.

In Just 16 Months, You’ll Have a Career

The A.S.C.T. degree prepares you to assist a chiropractor with patient care. It also gives you business management skills. In four trimesters, you will receive both a formal education and the opportunity to apply what you have learned.

Front Office Training
  • Code and file insurance claims
  • Manage financial records
  • Market the practice
  • Schedule appointments
  • Greet and direct patients
  • Meet Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
Back Office Clinical Training

While only the chiropractor can diagnose and adjust patients, you will learn to assist with all other patient care.

  • Take comprehensive patient case histories
  • Complete physical, orthopedic and neurological exams
  • Assist D.C. with chiropractic-specific exams
  • Take and develop diagnostic-quality X-rays (with certification)
  • Administer rehabilitation therapies: electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, hot/cold therapies and range-of-motion exercises
  • Educate patients in doctor’s office and as community outreach
Prepare to Become a Certified Chiropractic Radiologic Technologist

Become certified to take and develop X-rays in a chiropractic office. With your A.S.C.T. degree, you may take a certification exam of the American Chiropractic Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ACRRT). Nearly 30 states recognize this certification. Palmer's Davenport, Iowa, Campus offers the exam each trimester. Most other states offer state-specific certification exams; state chiropractic boards can provide further information. For more information, call (563) 884-5743 or email undergrad@palmer.edu

Gain Experience. Get to Work.

The A.S.C.T. program also prepares you with valuable hands-on experience. You will gain new skill sets and establish work experience for your resume.

As a student, you will rotate through the front offices of the Palmer clinics. In addition, you will complete an unpaid 120-hour externship at a local chiropractic office.

Combined with job placement assistance and financial aid, if needed, there are many reasons to say “yes” to an A.S.C.T. degree.
