Let’s Step You through the Process

Step 1: Admissions

  • Palmer College of Chiropractic must first admit you to school. You should confirm this
  • Send in your official FINAL transcripts from your high school and any college transcripts

Step 2: Financial Aid Packet

  • You will receive a Palmer Financial Aid Packet the term before you enroll
  • Follow all steps outlined in this packet closely
  • Proceed to Steps 3 to 7 only after you have followed instructions in the packet

Step 3: Complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Student Aid)

  • Get the application at www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • List the Palmer school code (012300) so we get copied on results
  • Return the application to the U.S. Department of Education
  • Wait for a Student Aid Report (SAR)
  • If you are selected for Verification, complete the Verification Worksheet
  • Return all financial forms requested to avoid delays

Step 4: Apply for Scholarships

Check for the list of scholarships being awarded approximately three months before the term begins. You may apply for any and all scholarships that are of interest to you and that you qualify for. We will match scholarships that are most applicable to you. New scholarships are advertised each term, so be sure to check back.

  • Prospective students apply only before the start of their first term
  • Visit the Palmer Scholarships Homepage
  • Login to STARSOnline
  • Your first-time to apply? Be sure to “Sign-Up” and complete your profile
  • Each term: update your profile for new scholarships through STARSOnline

Step 5: Loan Request Form

  • Your first-time to apply? Complete and return the Loan Request Form
  • This form is found in the Financial Aid Packet Palmer College sent to you

Step 6: Complete online Loan Entrance Counseling

  • Intending to borrow Federal Stafford Loans?
  • Your first-time to apply? You must complete loan entrance counseling
  • Avoid delays in Stafford Loan disbursements and get the counseling
  • Start the counseling now: Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling

Step 7: Complete the Direct Loan Promissory Note (MPN)

A Master Promissory Note (MPN) can be used to make one or more loans for up to 10 academic years.

  • Access and e-sign Direct Loan Master Promissory note here: Complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note
  • Select Subsidized/Unsubsidized
  • There are 9 steps
  • Reserve at least 30 minutes to complete in ONE session
  • If you exit prior to signing MPN in Step 8, you must start over

Step 8: Review your Financial Aid Award Letter

  • Review your letter carefully & understand the awards presented
  • Need to make changes? Contact your financial aid officer

Step 9: Applying for a Perkins Loan

If you receive your award letter and find that you were awarded a Perkins loan, you must complete the following steps:

Step 10: Applying for a GradPLUS/ParentPLUS Loan

If you have been awarded the PLUS Loan, you must complete the following steps:

  • Access and e-sign Application & MPN for a GradPLUS or Parent PLUS loan here: Complete a PLUS Loan App/MPN
  • DC Students select Graduate PLUS & Undergraduate students select Parent PLUS
  • There are 2 separate sections, the Application and Master Promissory Note - be sure to complete both sections
  • Reserve at least 30 minutes for each section
  • If you exit prior to completing the application or signing the MPN, you must start over
  • If you are declined for the loan, an Endorser Addendum will need to be completed by a credit worthy co-borrower to receive the loan
