The Davenport Campus has two laboratories dedicated to the study of
biomechanics, a performance laboratory and a treatment laboratory. Each
laboratory contains about 500 square feet, and are located directly adjacent to
each other inside the PCCR Research Clinic. The laboratories contain a
significant amount of high technology. There is a Cox flexion-distraction table
instrumented with force plates and motion sensors, which is presently
instrumented for low back treatment but which can be modified for the
measurement of cervical manipulation measurements. In addition, the labs contain
a Polhemus Liberty electromagnetic motion measuring instrument for assessing
ranges of motion and repositioning errors, Bertec force plates for measuring
postural sway, and Motion Monitor Software data acquisition computers for
measuring biomechanical loads and displacements.
