Joint Admissions Program

Scott Community College and Palmer College of Chiropractic Joint Admission Program

Scott Community College (SCC) should be your first stop before heading to Palmer College of Chiropractic. SCC offers a real advantage, with classes designed specifically for future Palmer College students.

The two colleges have had a cooperative agreement since 1979, when Palmer College relinquished its liberal arts curriculum to Scott Community College. This collaboration has allowed each institution to better concentrate on their academic specialties, resulting in a more beneficial education for the student of chiropractic.

Scott Community College Offers Future Palmer Students:

  • Accelerated Science Courses
  • Associate Degree Program
  • On-Campus Classes or Convenient Telecourses
  • Pre-Chiropractic Club
  • Joint Admission Program

Increased support, Decreased Expense
Recently, Palmer College of Chiropractic and Scott Community College of the Eastern Iowa Community College District strengthened their long-established relationship by forming the Joint Admission Program. This program maintains their pre-chiropractic partnership but offers additional benefits to the student.

Easy on the Wallet
The Joint Admission Program has the student’s financial concerns in mind. SCC has agreed to provide courses to qualified students at the cost equal to that of its in-state tuition for all Joint Admission Students.

Resources and Support
In order to facilitate a smoother transition between SCC and Palmer, both colleges have agreed to increase their assistance and accessibility to the student.

Joint Admissions
Joint Admissions Students benefit from:

  • Admission services and advising, including a Palmer contact person.
  • A reserved seat at Palmer upon SCC graduation and qualification.
  • Assistance with housing, worldwide licensure information and ongoing current information about Palmer and its academic program.
  • Access to both colleges’ libraries and information services.
  • The tuition cost equal to that of in-state tuition for all Joint Admission Students.

Program Guidelines
Three simple steps!

  1. Complete Palmer’s Admission Application and pay the application fee.
  2. Complete Application for Joint Admission Program  and submit to Palmer.
  3. Complete and submit SCC’s EICCD Application for Admission along with all necessary application materials. Contact SCC by calling 563-441-4000 for a printed application.

Get on the right track of your chiropractic career
"Right Next Door"
If you are one of the hundreds of students who move to the Quad City area to begin your pre-chiropractic education at SCC, relax. As a state community college, SCC’s tuition is extremely affordable. Plus, Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa, are neighboring cities. So there’s no necessary relocation after your transfer from SCC to Palmer College.

Convenience
If you get a late start enrolling, you may be able to take one of SCC’s eight-week courses, which begin mid-semester. As another option, you may be interested in telecourses (courses transmitted to your home via public television). Aside from testing, these courses require no on-campus classroom time.

Academic Excellence
Building Bridges to Your Future
Scott Community College is the right place to begin your pre-chiropractic education. SCC meets or exceeds the standards of academic excellence set for every public and private college and university in the region and has been given the maximum accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

The Pre-Chiropractic Club
Join a Community
Join Scott Community College’s Pre-Chiropractic Club and become a part of the society of aspiring Doctors of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic.

As a member of the Pre-Chiropractic Club, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Meet fellow pre-chiropractic students.
  • Consult Palmer College Admissions Representatives.
  • Participate in Palmer College campus visits and special events.
  • Discuss current chiropractic issues with Palmer College faculty.
  • Understand chiropractic philosophy.

Chris LeGrand, a past president of the SCC Pre-Chiropractic Club, urges every pre-chiropractic student at SCC to become involved in the club.

"Club meetings involve speakers – students as well as Doctors of Chiropractic – to provide us with a chance to learn about the field. The best choice you can make is to be involved."

"A Terrific Opportunity"
"I was very impressed with the personal attention from instructors as well as the quality of instruction," said Mary Flannery, a current Palmer College student and also former president of the Club. "You have the advantage of interaction with other pre-chiropractic students which makes the transition to Palmer easier."
