Orientation

Prior to the beginning of each academic term, the College conducts a new student orientation for the incoming class. The program features presentations by Palmer Florida faculty, staff and students regarding college goals, policies and procedures, campus life, college clubs and extracurricular activities. All new students are required to attend.

Housing

Palmer Florida does not maintain on-campus residence facilities. Students who need assistance with housing may find help through Student Services. The Apartment Guide, Shared Housing and Roomate listings and forms are available from the Office of Student Services or can be viewed on the Palmer Web site. Incoming students should plan to arrive in the area in advance of Orientation Day to ensure that suitable housing can be found before the beginning of classes.

Bookstore

The Palmer Florida Bookstore is located in Building One. Currently, the hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Students should expect to pay $550 for required books and instructional materials per quarter.

Parking

Faculty, staff and visitor parking for Palmer Florida is located behind the Academic Buildings. Student parking is restricted to the North and the South parking lots. Students may park behind the Academic Buildings after 4:30 p.m. and on weekends unless there are scheduled events. All students are responsible for reviewing the rules and regulations that govern parking. The complete parking policy is published in the Palmer Florida Student Handbook, which is presented to all new students at Orientation. Parking rules and regulations are strictly enforced, and citations will be issued. Students are required to register all their motor vehicles during orientation.

Mail

Individual mailboxes are assigned to all incoming students for internal use. Assignments are made through Student Services. Students are encouraged to check their mail at least once a day for mail and official school notices. Phone and personal messages are placed in the mailbox. The College assumes no responsibility for articles lost, stolen or damaged while in mailboxes.

Campus Life

A professional college presents challenges not usually encountered at undergraduate schools. At the same time, opportunities for higher levels of intellectual achievement and personal relationships may be expected. Colleagues in the classroom at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida will be studying toward a common goal: earning degrees as Doctors of Chiropractic.

The College is located in Port Orange, Fla., adjacent to Daytona Beach on Florida’s eastern shore, four hours north of Miami and an hour east of Orlando. Port Orange is a city of more than 50,000 people, with expanding industry, good schools, 17 parks, five libraries, a performing arts center and world famous attractions nearby, including Walt Disney World, Daytona International Speedway, the Kennedy Space Center, pro sports teams and world-famous beaches.

Recreational and sporting events are organized intramurally and with community leagues. Social events are planned throughout each academic quarter. on an individual basis.

Drug-Free Environment

Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida is committed to maintaining an environment conducive to the intellectual and personal development of students and to the safety and welfare of all members of the College community. The philosophy and practice of chiropractic emphasizes wellness and drugless care modalities.

The College prohibits the possession, use or abuse, sale, distribution or manufacture of any controlled substance (narcotics, illegal drugs) on its premises. In addition, the College prohibits the abuse of alcoholic beverages on its premises.

Any student or employee possessing nonprescription or illegal drugs or alcohol on campus, using these on College premises, or dispensing or selling them on College premises may be subject to legal as well as disciplinary action up to, and including, dismissal. Alcoholic beverages are excepted when being served at a sanctioned College function. Smoking Policy

In keeping with Palmer Chiropractic’s intent to provide a safe and healthful work environment, smoking is prohibited on campus except in the designated areas located on the east side of the Central Energy Plant on the north end of the campus as well as on the east side of Building One, on the south end of campus. Anybody using the smoking area is asked to please help keep it clean.

Advising

During students’ tenure at the College, occasions may arise when assistance is required regarding their studies or other areas of concern. The faculty and staff of the College are sensitive to such needs. Palmer Florida provides the following types of advising services for PCCF students and their families.

Academic Advising
Academic advising is a faculty function. Faculty members are available to discuss their courses and other academic concerns with students on an individual basis.

Referral Counseling Service
Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida’s office of Student Services provides you and your immediate family with access to The Student Resource and Assistance Program.

Palmer College of Chiropractic office of Student Services provides you and your immediate family with access to The Student Resource and Assistance Program (SRAP) for personal and mental health wellness. One of the greatest challenges students face at Palmer is maintaining their personal wellness when faced with the demands of the chiropractic education.

The Student Resource and Assistant Program (SRAP) is effective, easy to use and best of all, it's here for you and your entire family to use - any time of day, wherever you are. This program is a free and confidential service that offers practical solutions, online resources, one-on-one telephone consultations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on a variety of issues including, but not limited to, personal and family counseling, substance abuse interventions, health care resources, stress and overload, and Addictions and Recovery.

Students are encouraged to access LifeWorks by calling (888) 267-8126 to speak with a Master's Degree level certified consultant. Referrals can be made by the consultant for the student and/or family member to meet with a local counselor for up to three sessions at no charge. Disability Support Services

Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida makes reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities, as required by law. PCCF is in compliance with handicapped requirements regarding restrooms and entrance ramps and is equipped with an elevator.

Students seeking information or reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act should contact the Student Services Office. If you require a reasonable educational accommodation, you must submit current documentation of your disability to the Student Services Office prior to the beginning of class.

  1. The Allen Green Civic Center and Academic Building are handicapped accessible.
  2. Student requests for academic adjustments and reasonable accommodations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis with review of the student’s documentation. Adjustments and accommodations may include the following:
  • Enlarged texts and exams
  • Taped texts and exams
  • A text enlarger
  • A closed captioned television
  • Raised diagrams
  • Individual anatomy lab instruction
  • Alternative testing accommodations are available for individuals with chemical sensitivities
