Policies & Procedures

Parking

Palmer Florida students, faculty and staff may park their vehicles in any of the on-campus or street parking spaces (where authorized by the City of Port Orange) on a first-come, first-served basis, unless the space has been identified for a specific group or individual. All students are responsible for reviewing the rules and regulations which govern parking. The complete parking policy is published in the Palmer Florida Student Handbook, which is presented to all new students at Orientation. Parking rules and regulations are strictly enforced, and citations will be issued. Students are required to register all their motor vehicles during registration for classes each quarter.

Mail

Individual mail slots will be assigned to all incoming students. Assignments are made through Student Services. Students are encouraged to check their mail at least once a day for mail and official school notices. Phone and personal messages are placed on a message board. The College assumes no responsibility for articles lost, stolen or damaged while in mail boxes.

Student Records Policy/Student Rights

In accordance with federal mandates contained within the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), the College maintains academic records on all students who attend Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida. The federal law ensures confidentiality of student academic records.

Students have the right to inspect and review all documents contained in their academic records. A student may have copies of his/her records, with certain exceptions. A student who believes his/her education records contain information that is inaccurate or misleading, or is in violation of his/her privacy or other rights, may discuss any problems informally with the Registrar.

All student transcript records are maintained for a period of at least 50 years. Individual student files are maintained for each student who is currently enrolled or who has ever been enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida.

All records of indebtedness and documents relating to financial aid are maintained for each student. Records are maintained and stored in fireproof cabinets for a minimum of three years after graduation. Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida accords all rights under the law to students who are declared independent. No one outside the institution shall have access to, nor will the institution disclose any information from a student’s education records without written consent of the student, except to personnel within the institution, to officials of other institutions in which the student seeks to enroll, to persons or organizations providing the student’s financial aid, to accrediting agencies carrying out their accreditation function, to persons in compliance with a judicial order, and to persons in an emergency in order to protect the health and safety of a student or other persons.

Within the Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida community, only those members, individually or collectively, acting in the student’s educational interest are allowed access to students’ education records, within the limitations of their need to know.

Directory Information

At its discretion, the institution may provide directory information in accordance with the provisions of FERPA, to include: student name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, gender, major field of study, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, he most recent previous educational agency or institution attended by the student, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, and the weight of members of intercollegiate athletic teams. A student may give or withhold written permission to release directory information on the registration form each quarter.

Code of Ethics

The student, as a condition of admission, agrees to abide by all College regulations contained in the College Catalog, the Student Handbook and other College publications and notices placed on official College bulletin boards.

Students are also expected to abide by local, state and federal laws. The College assumes its students will conduct themselves as responsible citizens. It is the personal responsibility of every student to respect the rights of others and to conduct themselves as responsible citizens.

Students enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida must be guided by the highest standards of moral conduct. They are expected to demonstrate professional qualities when dealing with persons in the academic community, with chiropractic patients and with the public.

Grievance Procedures

Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida has a thorough set of policies and procedures relating to student grievances, complaints and discipline. Current students may find these documents in the Student Handbook or discuss them with the Office of Student Services.
