Electronic Books

Electronic Book Resources lists a number of websites for ready access to FREE online book websites. The sites provide full text access to the classics, literature, poetry, science, religion, philosophy and a few medical textbooks. Check out the link to Early American Manual Therapy. This site has over 25 full-text osteopathic, chiropractic and naturopathic textbooks dating from 1897 to 1926.  

Palmer Florida Library's page is not wholly comprehensive. This page is intended to be used as an initial FYI guide to internet resources.

The Bookshelf is a growing collection of biomedical books that can be searched directly by typing a concept into the textbox. Provided by PubMed.

Books on the Internet

An extensive subject directory developed by the University of Texas at Austin General Library for online book sites, publishers, online bookstores and book information sites, this is a very useful site for beginning a search for web resources regarding online book websites.

Early American Manual Therapy

"Green Books" full text for early 20th century osteopathy textbooks.

The Internet Public Library's Online Book Collection

"The Internet Public Library Online Texts Collection contains over 15,000 titles that can be browsed by author, by title, or by Dewey Decimal Classification." They can also be searched using a form on the page. 

The Online Books Page

Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Library, The On-Line Books Page was founded in 1993 as "a website that facilitates access to books that are freely readable over the Internet. It also aims to encourage the development of such on-line books, for the benefit and edification of all."

Project Gutenburg

Begun in 1971 on the campus of the University of Illinois, "the Project Gutenberg Philosophy is to make information, books and other  materials available to the general public in forms a vast majority of the computers, programs and people can easily read, use, quote, and search."
