Reserves Policy

Reserve Policies

  • Please allow one week for processing reserve submissions. Instructors will be notified, when new submissions are available for check out.
  • All materials submitted for courses with multiple instructors should be submitted by the coordinator/primary instructor. Renewal notices and all correspondence will be mailed to the coordinator/primary instructor.
  • Requests to place materials on reserve must be renewed each trimester.
  • Up to four photocopies of an article for one semester (depending upon the size of the class) can be submitted to the library, or you can request the library to make copies for you. The library will determine the number of copies based on the class size.
  • Any photocopied material may remain on reserve only one trimester and for one course, otherwise copyright permission must be secured from the publisher, (A sample letter to submit to a publisher is available on request).
  • Reference materials will be placed on reserve only if there is a second copy. Reference materials do not circulate but there is no direct control of the materials.
  • Materials will not be checked out for overnight use unless the instructor has indicated on their reserves request a desire for students to do so. If the instructor places non-circulating library materials on reserve, they must have a Faculty Librarians authorization, to flag the item for overnight check out. If flagged for overnight check out, materials may be checked out one hour prior to closing and must be returned no later than an hour after opening.
  • A $1.00 per hour fine will be imposed for late reserves.
