The Role of the College Library

At the recent 09-11 March 2001 Associated Colleges of the Midwest  conference, a panel discussion among both educators and librarians discussed today's Role of the College Library.

Highlights from that panel discussion concluded today's libraries roles are "significant in

  • offering cross-disciplinary gathering places;

  • supporting a culture of inquiry;

  • maintaining quality resources frequently unique to individual campuses and curricula at a time when the digital culture may become 'the 'unexamined norm' and

  • focusing on the process of learning through the lens of Information Literacy"
