Message from the Academic Dean

Welcome to the Palmer College West Web site. The academic program at Palmer College West provides students a thorough educational program based on our patient-centered approach to education. All aspects of our curriculum are designed to provide the knowledge, skills and aptitudes needed to be a doctor of chiropractic in our evolving health care system. Our students' excitement in entering the chiropractic profession is rewarded by an educational program that emphasizes the Palmer Chiropractic philosophy and patient care ethics, along with the development of evidence-based reasoning skills needed to be a successful practitioner. Students who complete Board Examinations and successfully practice in the community are our ultimate goal, and this goal is best obtained by our constant curricular focus on patients and their needs.

Students enrolled at Palmer College West experience extensive hands-on training beginning in the first quarter. This experience is expanded by first-year entry into the student clinic. The curriculum is designed around tracks of education, in areas such as patient evaluation, patient care and technique, radiology and differential diagnosis through problem-based learning amongst others. Students expand upon their clinical training in the student clinic at the beginning of their third year and complete their internship in the College's system of clinics. At the end of their internship, students take part in our Practice Development Quarter, gaining practical knowledge on how to successfully manage and practice chiropractic in a private office setting.

Along the way students are able to monitor their progress through the College's Clinical Competency Evaluation Program, and through completion of National Board Examinations. These tools lead to the success of a graduate by fully preparing them to gain licensure and begin practice within their first year of graduation.

I invite you to browse through all aspects of the Palmer College West academic program. Your questions and considerations are welcome. Please use this site as an opportunity to communicate with us.
