Alumni Program

Mission:
The mission of the Alumni Program is to identify and address the needs of the College’s three campuses and alumni, and create greater support, involvement and communication for all parties involved.

Value:
The alumni of Palmer College affirm that health is aided by quality chiropractic care as defined by the Palmer Tenets, that our obligation to our chiropractic profession includes supporting its long-term progress, that our alma mater, Palmer College of Chiropractic, and its three campuses is a vital institution leading the progress of the profession, and that our efforts in support of our alma mater will reflect high ethical values.

Vision:
The Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni Program, involving all three campuses, will strive to be one of the preeminent alumni programs in higher education as actively involved in and supportive of all major Palmer College of Chiropractic efforts including effective recruiting of the best qualified chiropractic students, dynamic fund-raising to facilitate growth for Palmer College of Chiropractic, as well as energetic service to and effective communications with all Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni.

Student Resource

The Admissions Department is supported by more than 25,000 alumni from the college’s three campuses in Davenport, IA, San Jose, CA and Port Orange, FL. Many of these Palmer graduates have assumed various leadership roles within the profession of chiropractic.

Prospective students are encouraged to visit one of the three campuses. However, prospective students can also contact Palmer alumni in their area for more information.

Professional Organizations

The chiropractic profession is represented by two major professional organizations, the International Chiropractic Association (ICA) and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). Both of the associations are located in Arlington, Va.

The two national organizations provide services in education, political and public relations, and insurance. Both organizations have student auxiliary groups on campus.

Transcript Of Record

Each student or alumnus is furnished one transcript of College records free of charge. Additional transcripts are furnished at the cost of $5 each, payable in advance. Transcripts cover only courses taken at Palmer College of Chiropractic West. No official document is issued to anyone with outstanding obligations to the College. Non-payment of tuition when due may result in the discontinuance of registration, the loss of eligibility for registering for the following quarter, a hold on records (transcripts, grades, etc.), or all of the preceding.

Continuing Education

The Palmer Institute for Professional Advance-ment was created with the mission of “… helping chiropractors succeed.” The Institute manages the Continuing Education efforts of the Palmer college campuses in addition to offering other programs, products and services to fulfill its mission.

Employment Prospects For Graduates

Of those responding to the Spring 2003 Palmer College of Chiropractic West alumni survey, 99% indicated they found employment in the profession within one to three years after graduation. Employment for Doctors of Chiropractic, according to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook 2005-2006 edition, is expected to grow faster than average through the year 2012.
