Mission Statement

The mission of Palmer Chiropractic Clinics Sports Council is to provide expanded clinical and educational opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. This is accomplished through community service by providing quality care to athletic populations, adhering strongly to the Palmer tenets and educational principles. Commitment is made to the development and promotion of Chiropractic as mainstream health care, acting as an integral part of the community and its health care professions while fostering progressive, enriching and rewarding educational and clinical experiences for its members.

Goals

To pursue a high standard of athlete/patient care

  • By providing personnel with highly specialized skills in the area of sports injury management and sports chiropractic.
  • By continued development of care guidelines which remain consistent with current principles and practices in chiropractic and sports injury management.
  • Through encouragement and support of those members who strive to attain high ideals, excellence in skills and task performance and excellent communication and relationship-oriented behavior.
  • Through development of verbal and written patient education materials.

To promote quality education through providing a unique and interactive learning environment

  • By offering membership to the college at large.
  • Through early exposure to clinical presentations, record keeping patient interaction, and clinical faculty.
  • By providing a venue for early application of basic, chiropractic, and clinical sciences which may enhance classroom learning, decision making and clinical skills.
  • By fostering professional behavior and mutual respect for patients, students, and doctors.
  • Through a sincere desire to foster individual growth toward sound and effective health care practices as a chiropractic physician.

To develop full-scale sports injury care within the college, the community, and the profession

  • By providing personnel with experience and education in the prevention, care, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • By expanding the current specific sports injury care in the clinic to include chiropractic adjusting.
  • By allowing direct access to sports injury management for community athletes.
  • By continuing to serve as a growing and developing division of the clinic system.

To promote Palmer College, Clinics and the chiropractic profession in the community

  • By continued support of community events at which the Sports Council provides high quality, effective on-site chiropractic and athletic injury care and advice.
  • By educating athletic populations and the general public about chiropractic and health care issues.
  • Through the development of relationships with other area health care facilities and professionals.
