Professional Affiliations

The David D. Palmer Health Sciences Library maintains resource sharing and cooperative agreements with several important academic and health sciences library consortia throughout Iowa and the United States. Listed below is a selected list of some of those consortia.

Chiropractic Libraries Consortium

The Chiropractic Libraries Consortium comprises 23 chiropractic college libraries from around the world. Founded on the Palmer College of Chiropractic campus in January 1979, CLIBCON has organized several cooperative projects among its members including production of the Index to Chiropractic Literature, interlibrary loan of library materials, cooperative collection development and other resource-sharing goals.

Association of Chiropractic History

The Association for the History of Chiropractic is an international association founded in 1980 to promote the scholarly recording of the profession's history.

Prairie Area Library System

Through the regional Prairie Area Library System, Palmer Health Sciences Library is a member of the Illinois State Library's cooperative resources sharing and library development program. There are numerous member libraries in the Quad Cities that allow the Palmer academic community access and use of library materials in the public, academic and, in some cases, special libraries of the area. The Prairie Area Library System's on-line public catalog is QuadLinc.

National Network of Libraries of Medicine - Greater Midwest Region

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine - Greater Midwest Region is a program of the National Library of Medicine. GMR acts as the regional clearinghouse for distribution of consumer health, professional and library information projects for the National Institutes of Health National Library of Medicine.

Quad Cities Area Biomedical Consortium

The Quad Cities Area Biomedical Consortium is a library resources sharing cooperative among the area's Quad Cities academic, special and hospital libraries. The local consortium is a member of the NN/LM program of the National Library of Medicine. Member List.

BiState Academic Libraries

BiSAL is a cooperative resource sharing consortium of Quad Cities area academic libraries. Its members include

Scott Community College | Marycrest University.

Iowa Private Academic Libraries

IPAL is a cooperative resource sharing consortium among the 33 private academic libraries throughout the state of Iowa.

Iowa Library Association

The Iowa Library Association promotes the development of the libraries that all Iowans depend on for information and lifelong learning. The Association provides leadership, education and support to enable its members to meet the challenges of providing quality library service to all Iowans.
