Reserves-Class/Club

Why should I place material on Reserve?

It is a good idea to place an item on Reserve if you would like the majority of your peers to read the same materials. Reserve items are located in a closed-stack area on the second floor of the library and generally are given shorter check-out periods so that everyone has an equal opportunity for these materials.

What type of material can a Class/Club place on Reserve?

  • Class constitution
  • Class minutes
  • VHS tapes (Must be original)

How do I place an item on Reserve?

  • Class/Clubs must have their Faculty Advisor and Class President's signature on the Reserve Request form.
  • Please fill out the PDF and either bring it to the Reserves Unit or submit it via email.
  • Library personnel will not monitor files for missing items.

What if I want to keep an item on Reserve longer than one term?

After two terms, reserve items that are either not used or are infrequently used will be returned via campus mail to the Faculty Advisor. A photocopied item cannot be placed on Reserve for more than one term without written authorization from the copyright holder for subsequent use. To view a sample letter for copyright permission, click here: copyright letter.

Items that cannot be placed on Reserve

  • A copy of a VHS tape (we can only process the original)
  • Copies of old exams (unless Faculty advisor has given authorization)
  • Photocopied items placed on reserve in any previous term cannot be put on reserve again until copyright permission has been obtained from the copyright holder
