RSS Feeds/Podcasts

RSS feeds provide an easy way to keep up to date on news and information from your favorite websites.  They provide a simple list of new articles or posts that allows you to see what is new on a website without actually going to the website. 

Podcasts use RSS feeds to automatically download new audio files to iTunes or other audio players.  The podcasts themselves can be anything from NPR programs to news commentary to music to discussions of chiropractic.

In order to receive an read an RSS feed, there are two requirements.
1. The website must publish an RSS feed.
To find the RSS feed on a website, trying looking for the word "RSS" or an RSS icon.  Icons include
       
2. You need a feed reader.  Some internet browsers (notably Firefox and Safari) include feed readers.
Other common feed readers include MyYahoo, Google Reader, MyMSN, Bloglines, Rojo, SharpReader, Awasu
Follow the feed reader's instructions to find out how to add RSS feeds.

Most podcasts can be listened to on an episode by episode basis without the audio software included with you computer.  To have your computer automatically download new podcasts and transfer them to a portable player, you will probably need additionally software.  Such software includes:
