The Palmer/YMCA Childcare Center

For your peace of mind …
For your child’s well-being …

Commonly asked questions

Why you and your child should consider the Palmer/YMCA Childcare Center:

For years, Palmer students and employees asked for a daycare facility for their children near campus so that they could do their work and attend classes confidently knowing that their children were in a vibrant learning program. The Scott County Family YMCA has also wanted to expand daycare services in downtown Davenport. Those desires have become reality now with the Palmer/YMCA Childcare Center at 724 Harrison Street in Davenport.

Owned by Palmer College and operated by the Scott County Family YMCA, the center’s certified and well-trained staffers have the experience, conscientiousness and compassion to put both you and your child at ease, day after day. This collaboration provides quality childcare to the Palmer community as well as the community at large.

As one parent put it, "Our daughter, Katie, has received very good care in every way at the YMCA Daycare Center. Sometimes she doesn’t want to leave in the afternoon, which tells me she enjoys being with the other children and the teachers. She is challenged to learn every day."

Along with the high standards set by the Y staff, this daycare center is the only one in the Quad-Cities to operate with a chiropractic-friendly philosophy. Your child can receive care by clinicians and student externs on a regular basis. Educational needs are tended, good nutrition is assured and strict security measures are always observed — all for your peace of mind.

Reasonably priced and open 52 weeks a year, the Palmer YMCA Daycare Center is YOUR DREAM COME TRUE!

The facility

Just two blocks south of the Palmer campus, the 4,500-square-foot center accommodates 64 children and is operated by the Scott County Family YMCA, which operates 10 other childcare facilities in the Quad-Cities.

  • Nursing mothers can see their babies during breaks. Lunchtime with your child is easy.
  • Palmer’s schedule is observed, so the center operates from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The program

  • Professionally trained YMCA staffers operate the Center. They know CPR and first aid and also have the compassion to dry a child's tears.
  • The stimulating schedule of daily events includes educational programs, playground time, swim lessons and field trips. Your child can thrive here.
  • Priced competitively with other professional daycare providers, this chiro-friendly program is a great value for your family. A variety of financial plans are available and the costs can be included in student loan or workstudy programs.
  • Healthy snacks and naptime are essentials. Outdoor recess is the normal routine.
  • Chiropractic health care is practiced by faculty clinicians and student externs. Staff support comes from the Palmer community.

The benefits

  • Chiropractic health care is available so the children can be subluxation-free!
  • No more distractions from babies and toddlers in classrooms for you, your classmates and teachers.
  • You can be more confident as an employee or student when you know that your child is nearby and participating in a well-rounded schedule of events.
  • Close, safe, comfortable and fun, the center is a place your child will look forward to visiting.
