Counseling Services Sanctuaries

Palmer Counseling Services recognizes that mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness requires deliberate attention. The intensive nature of chiropractic education can require a disproportionate amount of students' attention.  For your wellness, please spend a few moments in the Dendera Sanctuary or the Level Seven Sanctuary.  The "Dendera" Sanctuary is located in Counseling Services West Hall, Suite 128, Room C,  and the "Level Seven" Sanctuary is located in West Hall, Suite 303.  When you visit the sanctuaries we ask that you respect others and the purpose of these spaces: please  turn off cell phones, do not eat or study while in the sanctuaries. For information about what Palmer students say, click the Student Comments section.

The "Dendera" Sanctuary

The Temple of Dendera was a renowned location in ancient Upper Egypt, sought after for relaxation and rejuvenation. Dendera was one of the largest and most important temples built by the Ptolomies in ancient Kemet, Egypt. The "spa" at Dendera was a favorite destination of Cleopatra and other Egyptian nobility. It was distinguished for its healing rituals and exotic beauty treatments. The "spa" at the temple prepared sweet smelling perfumes, cosmetics and beauty elixirs from fruits, plants & flowers grown in the surrounding Egyptian gardens with purified water from the sacred lake. Some nobility participated in "healing incubation," sleeping in the temple in order to receive healing dreams, surrounded by precious imported objects and ingredients from around the Earth.

We have recreated Dendera for peace, calm, relaxation and rejuvenation amidst the hurry and stresses of your day. This tranquil space contains a plant garden, Interactive Health robotic massage chairs,  inversion slant cushions and water fountains.  A collection of relaxation and meditation music tapes, CDs and players may be checked out in the Program Assistant’s office in Suite 128, Room A.

Across from West Hall, Room 128A, is the Tea Room, where you can refresh yourself with a cool glass of water or enjoy a cup of hot herbal tea.
