"LifeWorks can help you with Quick Tips for ordering a free copy of your Credit Report."

Your credit report is an account of our personal financial history.  It includes a record of all the loans and credit accounts you've had for the last seven years -- including every late payment -- as well as any legal judgments or outstanding accounts.  When ever you apply for a loan or credit card, and many times when you apply for an apartment or job, some will check your credit report to see if you a history of paying your bills on time.  It's import to check your credit reports regularly to be sure there are no errors.   It's also one of the best things you you can do to prevent identity theft, because any fraudulent charges or accounts will appear on your report.

Thanks to the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), signed in 2003, every U.S. citizen is entitled to a free credit report once a year from each of the three main credit reporting bureaus:  Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.  FACTA is being rolled out state-by-state, with residents of western states being eligible for free credit reports first. By September 2005, residents of every state in the U.S. will be able to order free credit reports once a year.
