Lori Newman, Ph.D.

Dr. Lori NewmanDr. Lori Newman is the director of Palmer Counseling Services. Dr. Newman received her B.A. in psychology from St.. Ambrose University, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Iowa. Her research interests are test anxiety and emotional intelligence among students in higher education. One of Dr. Newman’s primary roles on campus is coordinator of the Office of Student Learning and Development, which provides services for students with disabilities. Dr. Newman is available for academic counseling, academic coaching, advising on alternative schedules and assistance with general questions having to do with college policies, practices and procedures.

Dr. Newman describes Palmer as a wonderful environment for an Educational Psychologist. Students face many educational and personal challenges in the chiropractic curriculum. Many students are not aware of these challenges until they are immersed in the experience and try to find how to adapt and cope and be successful.  "Helping students to adapt and cope with these challenges makes my job a pleasure and a privilege," says Dr. Newman.

Dr. Newman also teaches courses in the Undergraduate Studies Program. She teaches a variety of courses in psychology. Her email is lori.newman@palmer.edu.
