Housing

A main concern and priority for incoming Palmer College of Chiropractic students is housing. While a few students live in fraternities close to campus, Palmer does not have dormitories. The members of the Student Services Department are available to assist students in obtaining information on local housing. The housing complexes listed on this Web site are only a portion of what is available in the Quad-City area. There are houses and duplexes for sale or rent, as well as smaller apartment buildings not listed here.

The Department of Student Services maintains a Web site and printed publication of available apartments in the area, as submitted by local landlords. The listings are divided by type of housing (e.g., furnished, unfurnished, roommates wanted, houses for rent, etc.) and are updated on a regular basis (at least weekly).

The primary local newspaper, The Quad City Times, can also give new students a more extensive list of available housing in the area. Also, new students should take the time to drive around the immediate area of the college, as well as other parts of the Quad-Cities. Student Services can best help them if the Department knows whether students want to be within walking distance of the college or if they would prefer a more modern area, possibly in an apartment complex.

There is an abundance of available apartments and most new students find that it takes approximately two to three days to locate accommodations. However, students with families take somewhat longer, especially if they wish to buy a house. The Student Services Department has a telephone available for students and prospective students to use for making appointments to look at apartments or homes, along with maps and other guides. For more information, contact Student Services at (563) 884-5643.
