Present:  Susan Burns, Ruth Hall, Phyllis Harvey, Natalee Hattig, Dennis Peterson, Dr. Glenda Wiese

Aim for Meeting

Updates from Library Faculty
Professor Peterson – Director

·         Dr. Donald Gran has been named Acting Senior Campus Administrator for Palmer Florida campus replacing Dr. Clay Tuttle.

·         The Library Assistant position at Palmer Florida Library will be reclassified as Collection Management Technician.

·         A search will begin for a Collection Management Librarian for the Florida Library will begin February 15, 2005. Faculty Collection Management assignments for Palmer Florida Library will begin moving from Palmer Davenport to Palmer Florida as soon as possible for FY 2006.

·         The Board of Trustees will meet in San Diego on 04-05 February.

·         The PHSL-ACRL FY 2004 Assessment Review retreat will be held at McMullen Library, St. Ambrose University on Friday, February 11th from 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

·         Reported on a Library policies statement regarding vacation and personal time off requests for distribution to staff and faculty.

Assistant Professor Burns – Cataloging

·         Consulting with Assistant Professor Ruth Hall to go over cataloging entry information for the various titles of the Michigan State Chiropractic journals.

·         Will contact Admissions on whether the PCCF informational bulletin, Pure Chiropractic, Pure Palmer for Florida Library, is a first edition.

Assistant Professor Hall - Cataloging & Processing

·         A plastic knee model from second floor Reserves area has broken, and can not be repaired. A new knee model will be ordered.

·         Continuing to make progress on audio visual cataloging with the assistance of Library Assistant Pat Peters.

Associate Professor Harvey – Acquisitions, Serials and Electronic Resources

·         Library Assistant Pat Peters has been assigned to review the Reference collection to help identify what items to buy to update the Florida Library reference collection.

·         Library Assistant Pat Peters will be spending more time working on the audio visual cataloging project.

·         A draft copy of list of journals will be incorporated into the A-Z list.

·         The reference computers are continuing to have tendency to bump back a screen when searching.  Continue to send Helpdesk tickets every time this happens.  Still cannot minimize screen on the reference computers so that more than one screen can be open.

Instructor Hattig – Access

·         Reported on meeting with Mike Rekemeyer, Marketing and Communications on faculty and staff directories and a Library main homepage design.  Mr. Rekemeyer will create several different ideas.

·         Continuing to discuss with Eileen Burg, Information & Instruction Librarian document delivery and interlibrary loan processes and policies at the Florida Library.

·         Would like any recommendations on locations for “new” book and the Anglo European theses.

Professor Wiese - Special Collections & Archives

·         The CD burner ordered in collaboration with CTL is on backorder.

·         Library Assistant Culley Smith is continuing to process Chiropractic historian Russell Gibbon’s manuscript donation.

·         Dr. Rick Burns requested information for his power point presentation for his Technique class.

·         A National Chiropractic College alumni will be sending copies of the Backman Comics.

Discussion points

·         Discussed the reference computer problems of bumping back and not minimizing.

·         Discussion on personal and vacation leave for staff and the purpose of using leave.

·         Discussed placement of the Anglo European Theses and the “new” book shelf.

Action Steps for Library Faculty

  • Professor Peterson will distribute via email a statement regarding vacation and personal leave.
  • Assistant Professor Ruth Hall will purchase a new knee model.

Aim for Next Week's Meeting

  • Approval of Minutes.
  • Forward Agenda items to Mr. Peterson.
  • Continued discussion on specified points.
