The Davenport Campus will celebrate Founder’s Day on Thursday, Sept.
15. From 9 a.m. to noon, there will be a historical display in the
Skywalk, featuring D.D. Palmer’s original office door and other
artifacts. Historian Alana Callender and Julie Knaack will be on hand to
answer questions about chiropractic’s history. Refreshments will also
be available.
At 9:30 a.m., there will be a wreath laying and
brief presentation in Heritage Court by Davenport Campus Provost Dan
Weinert, D.C.
Founder’s Day is considered the “birthday” of
modern chiropractic. September 18, 1895, was the date the first
chiropractic adjustment was performed by D.D. Palmer on the first
chiropractic patient Harvey Lillard. Celebrating this date offers the
doctor and student of chiropractic a moment of reflection on the history
of the profession and its beginnings.
