Florida Campus: Area Teachers Honored with Crystal Apple Awards

The 2011 Crystal Apple Awards Ceremony honoring 13 of the finest teachers in
Port Orange and South Daytona was held on May 4. Coinciding with National
Teacher Appreciation Week, the annual event was held at the Riverside Pavilion,
which is also the home of the Port Orange/South Daytona Chamber of Commerce.
Palmer College joined Bright House Networks, the
University of Central Florida, Port Orange Family Days Community Trust and PNC
Banks in sponsoring the event. It is the fifth consecutive year that Palmer
College has been a gold level sponsor of the Crystal Apple Awards.
Dean of Academic Affairs
Donald Gran, M.S. Ed., D.C., on the Florida Campus who represented Palmer at the
event, said “Today’s celebration of teaching excellence in Volusia County
highlighted many innovative teaching methods being used in education today which
makes me realize that curriculum content and delivery can never be become the
status quo. If you are not actively striving to improve, you will be left
behind. The future students of Palmer Colleges will be better prepared and
expect more by the time they reach us.”
