Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)

SOT, or Sacro Occipital Technique, was discovered and developed by Major Bertrand DeJarnette, D.O., D.C., as a means to generalize patterns of whole-body imbalance into three distinct categories.  Using bioengineering principles, DeJarnette realized the sacroiliac joint and lumbosacral spine are keystone aspects of body balance that affect whole body function. This category system of analysis and treatment offers the chiropractor an outcome assessment system of pre- and post-treatment tests that can be applied to evaluate need for care, whether the care rendered is appropriate, and if the intervention was successful.  Sacro Occipital Technique is more than just a chiropractic adjusting technique; it’s a paradigm of understanding whole-body function that incorporates balance of the vertebra and myofascia, viscerosomatic/somatovisceral reflexes, CSF dynamics, dura meningeal tensions and the extremities.
