Activator Club

The Palmer College Activator Club exists to help students learn the analysis and procedures of the Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique. The technique is well established in the Palmer Chiropractic Outpatient Clinics. The club serves to introduce students to the technique and allow more experienced interns to explore and improve their skills. The club meets weekly and is guided by experienced doctors who are also Activator instructors at Palmer.

Animal Chiropractic Club

The Animal Chiropractic Club instructs students on providing chiropractic adjustments for animals, such as dogs, cats, horses, etc.

Applied Kinesiology (AK) Club

The Applied Kinesiology (AK) Club was founded to discuss the fundamental principles of applied kinesiology. The development of applied kinesiology was concentrated on correcting structural imbalances caused by muscles that were functioning poorly. It is based on muscle testing as a functional neurological evaluation. The club meets to discuss the history and the techniques involved in this principle.

Atlas Orthogonal Club

The Atlas Orthogonal Club discusses the Atlas Orthogonal (AO) technique, which focuses on how the alignment of the atlas vertebra, the top cervical bone in the neck, can effect the alignment of the entire spine.

Blair Club

The Blair Club discusses Blair Technique, which is a specific system of analyzing and adjusting the upper cervical vertebrae (atlas/axis primarily). It relies on the natural asymmetry of the body to formalize an adjustment designed specifically for that patient. Special X-rays are taken (protractor and stereo) for determining the listings.

Gonstead Club

Palmer students head up the Palmer Gonstead Club. Its mission is to promote the teachings of Dr. C. S. Gonstead. The Gonstead System is taught in Mt. Horeb, Wis., by the Gonstead Seminars of Chiropractic. This club is by no means intended to be a substitute for the Gonstead seminar series but is to be a supplement to the knowledge gained from these seminars. The club meets every week. Instructors are elite members of the Palmer Gonstead Club Committee. Aside from learning the Gonstead System, the club is also an opportunity for students to get hands-on training to be better prepared when they enter the Palmer Chiropractic Clinics. The club also offers guest speakers regularly.

Motion Palpation Club

The Motion Palpation Club is associated with the Motion Palpation Institute of Research, which is continually researching its palpation and adjusting techniques to achieve maximum biomechanical efficiency. The primary goal of Motion Palpation Club is to help all students become proficient in the art of motion palpation, while developing an understanding of clinical biomechanics and neurology.

NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association) Club

The Palmer NUCCA Club is affiliated with the primary NUCCA organization, which was founded in 1966 by Dr. Ralph R. Gregory. The NUCCA system of chiropractic practice is a natural health system that requires precise measurement of the displacements of the atlas vertebrae that are involved in the subluxation complex, including their relationships as found through X-ray films.

Palmer Package Club

The mission of Palmer Package Club is to provide a student-led, faculty-directed environment that fosters an enriching experience of all Palmer Package techniques and prepares students to become Doctors of Chiropractic with highly refined clinical skills and a strong philosophical basis for health assessment, chiropractic management and wellness promotion. This is an all-inclusive, hands-on skill building club that runs the whole spectrum of clinical skill sets.

Pediatrics Club

This club was formed to familiarize students with the philosophy and science of pediatric chiropractic care, while detailing what conditions may improve under chiropractic care and how to recognize those children who may benefit from such care.

Pettibon Club

Club members learn the science, biomechanics and theories used in the Pettibon Chiropractic System and receive hands-on experience with Pettibon adjustments and rehabilitation procedures. The Pettibon Chiropractic System is a comprehensive rehabilitation program for the spine’s hard and soft tissues. It applies research-tested adjustment procedures and equipment, trains patients in home care for faster recovery, and uses X-rays for diagnosis, assessing progress, and proof of treatment effectiveness.

Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) Club

The purpose of the SOT club is to promote SOT on campus by helping to develop competent practitioners and generating interest and discussion concerning this chiropractic system. The club initiates students unfamiliar with SOT by providing references and reading material. Referrals to externs who practice SOT in the Palmer Chiropractic Clinics will also be made to interested students.

Research & Writing Club

The Research & Writing Club was founded in February 2004 to coordinate research efforts with the Davenport campus. The club is instrumental in creating the foundation for research activities on the Palmer Florida campus and in letting the faculty know that students are willing to participation in data collection, case studies, information and community activities, all of which will make Palmer Florida the premiere chiropractic research center in the Southeast. The club also serves as an outlet for students to develop professional writing skills through creation of columns in newsletters and periodicals.

The Soft Tissue Club, formally known as ART/MRT, helps and teaches individuals the introduction to soft tissue therapy. The club will be concentrating on the lower extremities, upper extremities and back in regards to this.
