About the PCCR
The Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research (PCCR) is the largest and most highly funded research effort in the chiropractic educational community. The Center encompasses all three Palmer campuses and employs more than 40 professionals including administrators, faculty members, professional and administrative staff and clinical research fellows. The annual budget tops $7 million per year, $5 million from grants and contracts.
Although research has been a part of Palmer College throughout its history, the PCCR was established in 1995. Since that time, it has achieved several historical firsts:
- First chiropractic institution to receive a grant directly from the federal government to establish a formal research center
- First chiropractic institution to be awarded three developmental center grants funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NIH/NCCAM)
- First chiropractic institution to be awarded a federal grant to expand its facility
- First chiropractic institution to receive a research curriculum grant for providing master’s of science degree training of chiropractors in high-level clinical research
The PCCR is dedicated to advancing health care by developing knowledge and translating knowledge that improves the practice of chiropractic.
The PCCR will directly impact chiropractic practice and health policy through a universally recognized, robust and sustainable collaborative chiropractic research program that attracts accomplished scientists, high-level staff and dedicated trainees.
