Members of Sports Council, a group that
is active on all three campuses, learn about spinal and extremity
evaluation and participate in on-field care for various community
athletic events. Because active people want to maximize performance
while minimizing injury, many are looking for the unique skill set of
the sports chiropractor to help them achieve this goal.
Athletic
event organizers in the Palmer campus communities have sought the
services of Sports Council members to help minimize athlete injuries
through pre- and post-event treatment, including injury evaluation,
chiropractic adjustments, stretching, soft-tissue therapy and taping.
Sports Council members are trained in both on- and off-field settings,
which includes course material focusing on sport-specific injury
evaluation and treatment protocols. Students also receive training in
common athletic emergency situations.
