Upon seeing someone enter a Palmer building or office with a threatening weapon, seeing someone acting in a menacing or violent manner, or witnessing suspicious or criminal, the Palmer employee who first spots the suspicious activity will notify Campus.
Give Campus Security as much of the following information as possible:
- your name
- your contact information
- nature of the incident
- location of the incident
- description of the person(s) involved
- description of the weapon(s), if any involved.
Campus Security will call 911 and direct the authorities to your location.
If you are working in the area of violent activity, after notifying Campus Security, seek shelter in your area (ex. under a desk) until it is safe to evacuate. Stay away from doors and windows.
The Police Department will investigate the area where the criminal activity is located, and if necessary will evacuate employees in the building to the designated safe area.
No one will be allowed to re-enter the building after an evacuation until the Police Department and Campus Security have determined it to be safe.
If you are a witness, or were in the area at the time of the incident, you will need to assist the Police Department when they arrive by giving them any additional information.
