Clinical Teaching Assistants

This program is for students on the Main campus in Davenport, Iowa and Florida campus in Port Orange, Florida.

Students thinking about a career in academia or research should consider the Clinical Teaching Assistant (CTA) Program. It’s the perfect next step in your education. You’ll work within a patient- care setting, assisting faculty clinicians, clinic administrators or other interns.

Davenport campus

  • For senior-level students.
  • Work up to 10 hours per week.
  • Work-study funds of $12 per hour may be approved or you may volunteer your time.
  • You’ll receive a Certificate of Merit for successful completion at graduation.

Florida Campus

On the Florida campus, there are two types of positions available.

Clinical Staff Assistants

The Clinical Staff Assistant (CSA) program is the perfect next step in your education if you’re thinking of a career in academia or research. It's also ideal for learning about medical records and insurance, and developing organizational skills essential for private practice. You'll work within a patient-care setting, assisting support staff, faculty clinicians or other interns.

  • For any clinical-level intern students.
  • Work with prior approval from your assigned Faculty Clinician Mentor and earn Mentor-Directed Hours.
  • Not a paid position.
  • Must have current HIPAA/FERPA training completed.

Clinical Work Study Program

As a participant in the work-study program you’ll work within a patient-care setting, assisting faculty clinicians, clinic administrators or other interns.

  • Work from 10 to 20 hours per week.
  • Work-study funds of $9 - $15 per hour may be approved for this federally funded program.
