The terrain for the Quad-City Times Bix 7 Road Race peaks
at the top of Brady Street Hill, which is also the center of Palmer's
Davenport campus. This year, a local artist was hired to paint a
larger-than-life Palmer Crest across two of Brady Street's four lanes.
"Not only is it an impressive piece of artwork, it is also a great
symbol of Palmer pride," said Katie Hoyt, Palmer Davenport
Marketing & Communications, who organized the painting as well
as planned the on-campus Bix party for area community leaders.
"The College is happy to take part in this exciting event each year."
During the annual Bix Skywalk Party on July 30, Palmer Davenport
President Donald Kern, D.C., welcomed more than 140 guests,
including President's Club members, Capital Campaign donors,
student and community leaders.
Robert Cooperstein, D.C., M.A., Palmer West director of Technique
and Research, was among the 2005 Bix runners. This marked the
third time that Dr. Cooperstein has participated in the race.
Dr. Cooperstein summed up his motivation for entering the race
by noting, "I just wanted to test myself, find out my limits and
participate in this wondrous event involving thousands of people
running right past Palmer College."
