Dr. Peter Martin, president of Palmer’s Florida and West campuses,
congratulates the first graduates of Palmer Florida during commencement
ceremonies held at the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts
Center at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Fla. |
“You grew with the school, suffered firsts with us, and today
you take your place as the first Palmer Florida graduates,”
Donald Kern, D.C., president of Palmer College of Chiropractic’s
Davenport campus, said in his commencement address.
Amber Plante won the Virgil V. Strang Philosophy Award, and
Peter Scordilis received both the Excellence in Research and
Clinical Excellence awards. Top honors went to Rick Jacobs,
valedictorian, and Scott Schargen and Dan Webb, salutatorians.
The awards were presented by Donald Gran, D.C.
“We continue the Palmer tradition of saluting the exemplary
achievements of those students who have excelled throughout
the course of their educational experience at Palmer Florida and
graduate today with academic honors,” Dr. Gran said.
Vickie Palmer, chairman of Palmer’s Board of Trustees and
great-granddaughter of D.D. Palmer, oversaw the changing of
the tassels and stated the long-awaited words, “Doctors of
Chiropractic, please be seated.”
“I’m honored to share in the excitement of this memorable
occasion, and I would like to pass along my personal congratulations
and best wishes to the members of the first graduating
class of Palmer Florida,” campus President Peter Martin, D.C.,
told the students.
