On March 11, a busload of 12 students from Minnesota came
to the Davenport Campus to learn about the College. Linda
Leech, the students’ advisor from Minnesota State University –
Mankato, organized the bus trip over the university’s spring
break so that the students would have an opportunity to visit
several Iowa colleges, including Palmer, the University of Iowa,
Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa.
Ellen Bassler, Admissions, gave a presentation to the group,
and two Campus Guides also gave them a tour of the campus.
“Palmer was included on the bus trip because one of the
students was interested in the College and also because their
advisor, Linda, had received chiropractic care from a Palmer
graduate,” said Ms. Bassler. At the end of Ms. Bassler’s
presentation, five of the 12 students signed up to receive
more information about Palmer.
“They were a very attentive audience,” said Ms. Bassler.
“Though I had been given a strict timeframe to adhere to
regarding my presentation, they stayed well beyond that
because we were having such a lively discussion.”
In a follow-up e-mail thanking Ms. Bassler and the College
for their generosity to her students, Ms. Leech said the
presentation was “marvelous” and that the tour guides
“did a fabulous job.”
