Homecoming 2008 on Palmer’s Florida Campus took place Jan. 17-19,
giving many alumni the chance to escape colder climates. It also exceeded
expectations of many students who experienced the event for the
first time. “The seminars were awesome. It was like a crash course in
chiropractic!” said Josh Meckle, a 1st Quarter Florida Campus student.
Seminar topics this year included total body wellness, pediatric chiropractic,
clinical management of athletes, new diagnostic tools, risk management
and record keeping. Featured speakers included Florida Campus faculty
members John Lockenour, D.C., Davenport ’77; Michael Shreeve, D.C.;
Davenport ’74; and Susan St. Claire, D.C., West ’84.

D.C., West ’82; Jonathan Stein, D.C., Davenport ’88; Davenport Campus
Dean of Academic Programs Dan Weinert, D.C., Davenport ’96; Palmer
Vice Chancellor for Academics Dennis Marchiori, D.C., Davenport ’90; K.
Jeffrey Miller, D.C., Davenport ’87; and Steve Savoie, D.C., Davenport ’78.
Plus, Continuing Education offerings attracted faculty and clinicians,
current and prospective students and a large number of field doctors.
“It was really good to see the interaction between the field doctors, presenters
and students, both current and prospective,” said Donald Gran, D.C.,
Davenport ’78, dean of Academic Affairs for the Florida Campus.
This year’s Prospective Student Event was a great success with more
than 100 students and family members in attendance. Within a week
of the event, two students sent in their tuition deposits and five applied
to the College.
“Everything was wonderful—the seminars, the facilities and
especially the enthusiasm of the students,” said Board of
Trustees member Paul Peterson, D.C., Davenport ’67. “They
were really into it.”
Homecoming 2008 also featured the Heritage Endowment
Society Luncheon, which honored Mrs. Marion Staples and
her late husband, John H. Staples, D.C., Davenport ’53, for
their generous contributions in providing scholarships to
Florida Campus students.
Guests were also afforded the opportunity to learn about
chiropractic products and services from the representatives
exhibiting at the Expo.
