participants from local companies, West Campus President

cut the ribbon to officially kick off Silicon Valley
Moon Walk 2008. |
On April 16, Palmer’s West Campus served as the launching site of Silicon
Valley Moon Walk 2008, a major health and wellness campaign that
involves employees at Santa Clara Valley companies participating in a
virtual “walk” to the moon.
“Because of our focus on the neuromusculoskeletal system, Palmer College
is more than happy to partner with other organizations in the Silicon Valley
to promote daily physical activity,” said West Campus President Bill Meeker,
D.C., West ’82. “We do this to create a more healthy community.”
All Moon Walk participants were issued pedometers to log their daily steps,
which are applied toward the collective number it would theoretically take
to reach the moon’s surface—541 million.
The West Campus being chosen as the kick-off site is due in large part to
the efforts of West Campus Clinician William Updyke, D.C., who is cochair
of the Health Committee for the San Jose Chamber of Commerce,
the primary sponsor of Silicon Valley Moon Walk 2008.
