Twenty-eight graduates received their D.C. degrees during the West
Campus commencement on Nov. 30 in the theater of the Santa Clara
Convention Center. Sandy Bell and Kaela Hwang were valedictorian and
salutatorian, respectively. In addition to Bell and Hwang, the other magna
cum laude graduate included Adam Hendy. Tanya Dobrzanski, Conan
Fisher, David Sisopha, Helen Tong and David Yawger graduated with cum
laude honors.
Clinical Excellence awards were presented to Sna Lim for the Tasman
Clinic and Robinson Le for the former Benton Clinic. Tony Kearns received
the Student Fellow Award. Kaela Hwang received the Virgil V. Strang
Award. Dobrzanski, Phillip Kotzan and Rachel Yan received awards for
their years of service as Campus Guides. Dobrzanksi and John White
received special awards for serving as executive officers of the Associated
Student Government.
Hendy, Cory Hewko and Kearns received awards for serving as executive
officers of the Sports Council. Dr. Kelli Pearson, a 1982 West Campus
alumna who was one of the first three chiropractors in the U.S. to earn
an HMO appointment and have staff privileges at Group Health
Cooperative, presented the commencement address.
