Dr. John Conley, ’84, Rumford, R.I., received the
Carnegie Medal for “Extraordinary Heroism” for his
actions to save the life of an 86-year-old woman
who drove her car into the water at his marina.
The car sank 12 feet, and Dr. Conley dove down to
it three times, breaking a window and pulling the
woman to safety. He also received an award from
the Congressional Medal of Honor Society.
