More than 100 West Campus students, faculty and guests participated
in the inaugural 5 and 10K Fun Run on April 6. The event
was held as part of a special Sports Council-sponsored Weekend
With Warren program, which also included a “Spinal and
Extremity Adjusting Technique” seminar with Kevin Wong, D.C.,
West ’96, on April 4, and a day-long “Soft Tissue Strategies”
seminar with Warren Hammer, D.C., M.S., DABCO, on April 5.
The race took runners along a course that included the Guadalupe
River and River Oaks Bridge. Runners convened on the campus at
the end of the race for refreshments and entertainment by the
band One Last Round.
The Fun Run was sponsored in part through donations from
the California Chiropractic Association, Excess Energy, Graston,
and Niagra Bottling, Inc. The sporting goods store Sports
Basement donated $50 gift certificates, which were awarded to
the top three men’s and women’s finishers. The winner of the
men’s division of the 5K was Jorn Jensen, D.C., West ’94.
“It was a great event overall, from start to finish,” said Sports
Council Advisor and Professor Edward Feinberg, D.C., DACBSP,
West ’83. “The run was our first community event,” added
Dr. Feinberg, noting, in particular, the efforts of race organizer and
Sports Council Vice President Karla Solum.
“On behalf of the Sports Council, I would like to thank everyone
who participated in the race and those who volunteered their time
at the race,” said Ms. Solum. “This event could not have happened
without them.”
