During the Aug. 7 evening session at
Palmer Homecoming on the Davenport
Campus, Chairman of the Board
Trevor Ireland, D.C., Davenport ’70,
led a tribute to fellow Board Trustee
Vickie Anne Palmer.
“We’re gathered here to recognize
the continuation of the Palmer
family legacy; through the efforts
of Vickie Palmer during her 21-year
tenure as chairman of the Palmer
Board of Trustees,” said Dr. Ireland.
He then introduced a six-minute
video, which honored Ms. Palmer’s
contributions to the College through
testimonials provided by members
of the Palmer Board of Trustees and
the presidents of all three Palmer
campuses.
“You’ve inspired us all to think ‘what
if’ and challenged us to keep moving
ahead,” said Dr. Ireland following
the video. “In short, you’ve helped
guide us on our way and given us
true direction.”
Ms. Palmer was then given a framed
display featuring a silver platter
engraved with the Palmer crest and
a resolution signed by the members
of the Board, recognizing her for her
service to the Board of Trustees and
the College.
Dr. Ireland then announced, “It gives
me the greatest honor to announce
that this building, formerly called
Lyceum Hall, will now be known as
Vickie Anne Palmer Hall.” For this
honor, Ms. Palmer received one of
the many standing ovations made by
the audience that evening.
“I’m truly humbled by your show of
affection and appreciation with the
video and with the kind words that
have been expressed to me today, and
especially the naming of this hall the
Vickie Anne Palmer Hall,” she said. “I
also want to say a very special thank
you to the alumni who support Palmer
College. You are the bricks and mortar
of Palmer and our profession.”
