Diversity event welcomes prospective students to Davenport Campus

On Aug. 17 and 18, the Davenport Campus Admissions Department hosted a special prospective student event, which focused on diversity in chiropractic and minority recruitment. Admissions Representative Kelan Ritchie, who organized the event, gave a presentation about the need for chiropractic to expand its demographic inside the profession as well as its patient base.

Che Joplin, D.C., Davenport ’99, then spoke about how Palmer stands out from other chiropractic colleges and shared his personal experiences as a Palmer student. A panel session followed with Davenport Campus alumni Doug Campbell, D.C., ’01; Arnie Wynn, D.C., ’03; Angela (Pfeifer) Michaud, D.C., ’08; and 7th trimester student Rick Worley.

Along with remarks from Davenport Campus President Dr. Donald Kern, curriculum presentations were made by Davenport Campus graduates and faculty members Casey Crisp, D.C., ’97; Ron Boesch, D.C., ’91; and Ramneek Bhogal, D.C., ’02.

Other highlights included: Kendal Wilson, D.C., Davenport ’05, addressing the remarkable opportunities for minorities in chiropractic, a campus tour, a presentation by Palmer Center for Business Development Director Dwight Bailey, Psy.D., and a chance for prospective students to meet with Davenport Campus alumni, including Darell Andrews, D.C., ’07; Maurice Wallace, D.C., ’03; Kenya Gaskin, D.C., ’99; Stanley Sims, D.C., ’99; Sean Robotham, D.C., ’96; and Jeremy Turley, D.C., ’07.
