Palmer Admissions rides out Irene in Puerto Rico for eight new applicants
Eight new students applied to Palmer during the Admissions Department’s recent travels to Puerto Rico during Hurricane Irene. The storm began battering the island soon after Senior Director of Admissions Karen Eden arrived, leaving many areas without power and making travel dangerous for several days.
Despite the storm, however, San Juan Nights—the large recruitment event slated Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 24 and 25—went on. Thousands of enthusiastic students turned out for the event, which was held at the El San Juan Hotel in Carolina. On Friday, Aug. 26, several students attended a prospective student dinner at Chili’s Restaurant, where they learned more about Palmer and the admissions process from Ms. Eden.
“This event is always fulfilling,” said Ms. Eden. “Being able to bring Palmer and chiropractic to so many students is amazing. Even though there was a category one hurricane the week of our visit, we still had a successful endeavor.”
