On the road with Admissions: Minnesota
While Palmer Admissions representative Ellen Bassler was on the road in Minnesota, she visited Minnesota State University-Moorhead, Minnesota State University-Mankato, St. Cloud State University, Concordia University, University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Univ. of Minnesota-Twin Cities. At UW-River Falls, she ended up speaking to a much different group of prospective students than she was used to.
The professor was so eager to have her give a presentation at the university, he scheduled Ms. Bassler to speak to an Equine Production class in the College of Agricultural Sciences.
“Believe it or not, I got three new inquiries out of the presentation, and eight of the students from that class attended my general presentation that evening,” said Ms. Bassler, who is based on Palmer’s Davenport Campus.
She also spoke to nearly 200 Kinesiology students at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, getting 12 new inquiries in the process.
Ms. Bassler ended her week with a prospective student dinner at W.A. Frost and Company Restaurant in St. Paul with 19 guests and three speakers—Palmer faculty clinician Ron Boesch, D.C. (Davenport ’91); William Kriva, D.C. (Davenport ’97); and new graduate Brandon Evans, D.C., who just graduated from the Davenport Campus.
“A Logan College graduate attended the dinner with his son, and they hope to visit Palmer soon. There was also a current Northwestern Health Sciences University student who is interested in what Palmer has to offer—he also wants to visit in the near future,” said Ms. Bassler. “Also in attendance were two students who have already applied to Palmer and another student who plans to apply to our Florida Campus.”
"I just wanted to say how much fun I had at W.A. Frost and Company (during the prospective student dinner)," said a prospective student named Tanner in an e-mail to Ms. Bassler. "The food was delicious and the speakers were very interesting to listen to! I definitely got a lot of it. At the dinner, one of the speakers talked about shadowing chiropractors as much as possible. I was wondering if you knew any Palmer chiropractors in the Morris, Minn., area ...."
