Dr. Kevin Paustian named Dean of Academic Affairs for Davenport Campus
Kevin Paustian, D.C., has been appointed to the position of Dean of Academic Affairs for the Davenport Campus. In this role, he is responsible—-in cooperation with Davenport Campus Provost Dan Weinert, D.C., M.S.—-for implementation and assessment of academic programs on the Davenport Campus.
His specific responsibilities include recruiting and retaining the highest quality faculty and administrative staff possible, assessing curricula and programs, recruiting and recommending academic department chairs/directors, implementing evaluation procedures for faculty guided by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, coordinating workload assignments and faculty pay, and working with the Clinic leadership team to integrate clinical and classroom education.
“Dr. Paustian’s experience and education are a tremendous asset to Palmer,” said Dr. Weinert. “We are extremely happy to have him accept this position.”
Dr. Paustian graduated from Palmer’s Davenport Campus in 1984. He earned a B.S. degree in biology from Regents College, Albany, N.Y., and is completing a graduate program to earn an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from the University of Iowa, with an anticipated graduation in December 2011. Dr. Paustian joined Palmer College in 1988 as a Faculty Clinician as well as an Associate Professor in the Technique Department. In addition to his faculty role, he served in a number of administrative positions prior to being named Dean of Academic Affairs. He was Assistant to the Director of the Year 3 Curriculum from 2000 to 2002, Interim Director of Philosophy and Practice Management from 2002 to 2003, and most recently Director of Student Academic Affairs. While serving as Director of Student Academic Affairs from 2003 to 2011, he was Interim Director of Technique from 2005 to 2008. Additionally, Dr. Paustian has maintained a private practice in Durant, Iowa, since 1988.
