Dr. David D. Palmer Athletic Trust kick-off a success
The Palmer Rugby Alumni Association met this past weekend in Dallas, Texas, for the inaugural Dr. David D. Palmer Athletic Trust Symposium. The two-day event was the kick-off for the Trust.
The event included 12 hours of continuing education, a cocktail social event Friday evening, three rugby games on Saturday afternoon (women's, men's A & B team), followed by a banquet Saturday evening. The speakers for the CE classes were Fred Schofield, D.C. (Davenport '81); Gerry Provance, D.C. (Davenport '80); and Scott Haldeman, D.C., M.D., Ph.D. (Davenport '64).
The women's rugby team won their game against the Dallas Diablos 117-0. The men's teams' results were: Dallas Harlequins Super League Teams (27) vs. Palmer A Team (8); and Dallas B Side (25) vs. Palmer Development Side (17).
"It was a great event," said Palmer Director for Alumni Mickey Burt, D.C. (Davenport '73). "Everyone who came seemed to be having a great time in the classes and watching the games."
Also in attendance from the Davenport Campus were Dr. David D. Palmer Athletic Trust Secretary Lois Kundel (senior Development officer) and Treasurer Alexis Vander Horn (senior director for Financial Affairs), who were there to support the program's kick-off and attend the first annual meeting of the Trust. Athletic and Recreation Coordinator Ron O'Brien assisted with the event and coordinated the rugby team.
