Florida Campus Student Council 'Trot for Troops'
On June 2, the Student Council on Palmer’s Florida Campus held a 5K run/walk for the purpose of raising money for the U.S.O. The U.S.O.’s mission is to lift the spirits of our troops and their families.
With several veterans on campus, event organizer, Tiffany Clark, 11th quarter, wanted to do something for a group that to her seemed under-appreciated. That feeling helped launch the first Palmer College Student Council Trot for Troops.
“This event has so much heart," said Ms. Clark. "My experience has been one that makes me proud to associate myself with Palmer. This was the first year of the event, and I’m so proud of and thankful for all those that came to run, volunteer and support the runners.”
Approximately 70 runners and walkers participated in what Ms. Clark hopes becomes an annual event. The Trot for Troops raised nearly $900 for the U.S.O.
“For our first year, I am very excited with the results," said Ms. Clark. "Our troops will always be appreciated by Palmer, and our vets will always know that the heart of this campus and clinic is to serve.”
