Janet Kerin, D.C. (Davenport '92), has been selected as the National Family Spokesperson for Adoption for 2012. November is National Adoption Month, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, AdoptUSKids and the Ad Council a public service announcements have launched the campaign "You Don't Have to Be Perfect to Be a Perfect Parent."

Dr. Kerin, of Castle Rock, Colo., and two of her three adopted sibling boys (Cody, Brandon and Joseph) will be flown to Washington, D.C., for live television, newspaper and other media interviews, including a Twitter event. She was also interviewed on NBC affiliate 9News along with National Project Director for AdoptUSKids Kathy Ledesma.

Dr. Kerin and her three sons were a featured adopted family last December on the 13th Annual "A Home for the Holidays with Martina McBride" special on CBS. The program told inspirational stories about adoption from foster care. It included performances by McBride, Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, Gavin DeGraw, OneRepublic and Christina Perri.

According to TVbytheNumbers, "When you meet the three Kerin brothers, you would never know that their early childhood was filled with abuse and sadness. ... In 2009, Brandon, Cody and Joseph were adopted by Janet Kerin, a successful chiropractor who decided to become a mother through adoption. 'To see them become who they really are is my greatest joy,' says Janet. 'I am very proud to call them my sons.'"
