West Campus initiates $1-million renovation project
The completion of spring quarter classes traditionally signals the beginning of summer vacation for West Campus students.
This year, however, the end of the spring quarter also marks the beginning of a major campus renovation project that will result in approximately $1 million in facility enhancements.
Replacing the HVAC unit on top of the building, remodeling the main and clinic lobbies, installing new carpeting in the classrooms and upgrading building entrances to provide easier accessibility for individuals with disabilities are among the more noteworthy features of the renovation project, which represents the most comprehensive facility upgrade since the West Campus consolidated the former Sunnyvale and Santa Clara campuses, and moved to San Jose in 1993.
The majority of the renovation work (paid for by the building owners as part of the West Campus’ new lease) is scheduled during the four-week break between the spring and summer quarters. Due to the scope of the project, however, some work will still remain when students return to begin Summer Quarter classes on July 8.

This renovation project adds to that excitement by enhancing both the aesthetic as well as operational function of the facility, which translates to enhancements in the educational experience for our students, and the clinical experience for our patients.”
