For Amanthi Mapalagama, a third trimester student at the Davenport, Iowa, Campus from Colombo, Sri Lanka, her journey began when she started her studies at Palmer.

“My time at Palmer has been one of the most amazing journeys of my life,” she says. “Faculty and students are very friendly and helpful. Currently I’m an ambassador for the Palmer Center for Business Development and the vice president of the Student American Chiropractic Association. These roles have given me the opportunity to enhance my communication and leadership skills and network with some amazing people. I’m grateful to be part of this prestigious school!”

The comprehensive clinical experiences, including the opportunity to provide care abroad, were also a draw for Amanthi. “Every student gains real-world experience and is part of the world’s largest outpatient clinic system,” she says. “Palmer also offers the Clinic Abroad Program, where students are able to provide care to patients in a number of countries who don’t have access to health care. This is a great opportunity to learn about other cultures and work with people all around the world.”
