Pre-Chiropractic Curriculum
 

Scott Community College Pre-Chiropractic Curriculum

Scott Community College (SCC) has adapted a curriculum to help you meet your science requirements at an accelerated rate. You can save a minimum of two semesters by taking your prerequisite courses at SCC.

SCC also offers courses that meet Palmer’s communication/language, psychology, social sciences and/or humanities requirements.

Select six or more semester hours (with laboratory) from each of the following science categories:

Description of Accelerated Courses
The following courses have prerequisites. Please refer to the Scott Community College Catalog for more information.

CHEM130: Principles of General Chemistry

This course presents the structure of the atom and how different elements combine, mathematical relationships involving chemical equations, chemical bonding, the gas laws, solutions, chemical equilibriums, acid-base solutions, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics and electrochemistry.

CHEM200A: Principles of Organic Chemistry

A one-semester lecture and laboratory course organized by a functional group approach. Nomenclature, structure, reactions and mechanisms of several functional groups are covered. The groups covered include aliphatic, aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, phenols, ethers, halogen derivatives, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and amines.

PHYS130: Survey of Physics

This course is an overview of general physics including mechanics, thermodynamics, acoustics, electricity and magnetism, as well as optics and modern physics.

The above courses are recommended for the pre-chiropractic curriculum, though other options are available.
