Aim for Meeting

  • Weekly departmental meeting.

Updates from Library Faculty
Professor Peterson - Director

  • Editing the Palmer West Library Fiscal Year 2004 Assessment Review is finished and will go to the print center today
  • Editing the Palmer Health Sciences Library Fiscal Year 2004 Assessment Review will begin after the first of the new year.
  • Reported on the Curriculum Management Team meeting Wednesday, December 15th with a discussion on the Myo-vision instrument n Clinic and Technique classes
  • Reported on Educational Leadership Council meeting.
  • Reported on meeting with Dr. Murray.  Will start the search for a Collection Management Librarian for Palmer Florida in February.
  • Thanked everyone for completing staff evaluations.
  • Wished everyone a happy holiday.

Assistant Professor Burns - Cataloging

  • Transferred the management of the Majors New Books List to Ms. Harvey and Ms. Nestler.
  • Beginning to catalog Michigan journal titles.
  • Will be concentrating on both original and copy cataloging the collections.

Instructor Goodell - Information & Instruction

  • Reviewing tutorial list that Ms. Hattig sent.
  • Met with Ms. Hattig and Ms Harvey to revise Library 110 course, the Information Literature course, for the transition from 2nd to 1st Trimester.
  • Put in an Information Services Help Desk ticket for repair of the three Reference PC workstation.
  • Will be teaching with Dr. Hondras and her course in the Research Department the first of January 2005.
  • Completed the August-November President's report.
  • The final midterm for the Library 110 course today. 

Assistant Professor Hall - Cataloging & Processing

  • Attending with Ms. Wheeler the BCR Workshop on Cataloging Using the OCLC Connexion Client Interface on February 16, 2005 in Iowa City, Iowa.
  • Completed Collection Management training materials for Library Assistant Patricia Peters' transition from Access services.
  • Collection Management workstation configuring will begin at 8:00 a.m. this Friday.

Associate Professor Harvey - Acquisitions, Serical & Electronic Resources

  • Continuing Acquisitions transition reviewing, particularly requested acquisition items currently on hold.
  • Library Assistant Pat Peters has been doing a great job with her new assignments.
  • Working with online journal links that are troublesome.
  • Submitted a request for travel to the North American Serials Interest Group annual conference for May 2005 to Faculty Development Committee for funding.

Instructor Hattig - Access

  • Access staff evaluations are complete.
  • Planning has begun for regural Circulation departmental and individual meetings.
  • After the first of the year, informal training on PHSL database use will begin for staff members.
  • Researching online Information Literature tutorial for incorporation into the Library 110 course. 

Professor Wiese - Special Collections & Archives

  • Completed Special Services staff evaluations.
  • Completed the August-November 2004 President's Report.
  • Library Assistant Culley Smith continues accession and processing the Russell Gibbons manuscript donation, which is almost complete.
  • Library Assistant Sonnet Busen is accessing and processing the Esther Mork donation.
  • Dr. Wiese has had several historical reference questions this week.
  • Put an Information Services HelpDesk ticket to repair the student PC workstation in the public area of Special Collections.

Discussion points

  • Discussed the disrepair of the PC workstations in the Reference area. Three of the six PC workstation are now working.
  • Discussion on the Myo-vision instruments to be used in the Clinic and Technique curriculum.

Action Steps for Library Faculty

  • Mr. Peterson will begin editing the PHSL FY 2004 Assessment Review after first of the year.
  • Ms. Hattig will be planning informal training for staff on PHSL databases.

Aim for Next Week's Meeting

  • Approval of Minutes
  • Forward Agenda items to Mr. Peterson.
  • Continued discussion on specified points.
