Employment

Campus Recreation hires several work study students to work in the recreation center, to referee, and to teach aerobics and other classes. While some of our positions have specific requirements, most of our jobs only require genuine interest in working with people and an enthusiasm for recreational sports and activities.

Hiring Schedule

Traditionally, Campus Recreation hires its facility staff for our Fitness Center  three weeks prior to the current academic period, yet applications are accepted and filed on a continual basis. Program-specific staff, including Intramural Sport Officials, are hired on a seasonal basis and will be posted in the Fitness Center and Student Services and advertised in The Beacon. Campus Recreation welcomes persons with all abilities. Please inquire about the availability of accommodations for special needs.

Positions

Intramural Officials
A strong background in a specific sport or sports is required. Knowledge of rules is a must. Knowledge of officiating mechanics and game management required.

Fitness Center Monitors
The Fitness Center Monitor is responsible for monitoring the recreation center at the main desk.

Athletic Trainers
Provides training services to our athletic teams. Must be ATC certified.

Personal Fitness Trainers
Trainers provide one on one service to the Palmer Community. Must have certification or degree in appropriate area.

Lifeguards
Monitor open swim on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Central High School pool. Must be certified.

Intramural Coordinator
The Intramural Coordinator will oversee the student intramural program.

Fitness Center Manager
The Fitness Center Manager will oversee the daily running of the auditorium and its employees.

 

 

Campus Recreation Mission Statement
Campus Recreation has a primary responsibility to contribute to the total development and enhancement of the Palmer College community through an accessible and comprehensive program. Campus Recreation includes recreational services, wellness, and club sports. Recreational programming works to promote healthy lifestyles, helps to develop positive attitudes, and serves to provide a variety of recreational opportunities.
